The news was announced via an official statement by lawyer Vandana Shah. She stated, “On behalf of our client, Mrs. Saira Rahman, Vandana Shah & Associates issues the following statement regarding her current health condition. A few days ago Mrs. Saira Rahman was hospitalised due to a medical emergerncy, and underwent surgery. During this challenging time, her sole focus is on a speedy recovery. She deeply appreciates the concern and support from those around her and requests prayers for her well- being from her numerous well-wishers and supporters. Mrs. Saira Rahman would also like to express her heartfelt gratitude to her friends from Los Angeles, Resul Pookutty and his wife Shadia, as well as Vandana Shah and Mr. Rahman, for their unwavering support during this difficult time. She is truly grateful for their kindness and encouragement.”
She concluded, “God bless Mrs. Saira Rahman also seeks privacy during this period and expresses gratitude for the understanding from her supporters and well-wishers.”
AR Rahman and Saira’s separation
On November 19, 2024, AR Rahman and Saira Banu announced their mutual divorce. Talking about the couple’s divorce, their lawyer, Vandana Shah, revealed that the couple was facing difficulties in their marriage and didn’t want to bridge the gap.
When asked about the circumstances of singer AR Rahman and his spouse going through a divorce, Vandana Shah said to Bollywood Bubble, “I have actually issued a joint statement regarding Mr AR Rahman and Ms Saira Rahman’s situation at the moment. And I think the statement is quite self-explanatory. It explains that they have reached a stage where an insurmountable gap has come between them. They are going through their own pain and struggles, and it’s not something I can speak about lightly. It’s a lot of pain, and no one arrives at such a stage without deep thought and reflection, especially after 29 years of marriage.”
On the work front, Rahman recently composed music for Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava.
